I would like to share with you some photos from the Ikebana show in Beijing.

Please see my previous blog for the video.

Ikebana showtime in Beijing (Movie)

The story is about a queen of the mountains who awakens the holy spirits and makes never-before-seen flowers bloom on the mountain. It was a show-type performance that customers bought tickets to come and watch. Many of the customers were not particularly interested in flowers, let alone ikebana, so I wondered how I could provide entertainment that would satisfy them, and I created ikebana while dancing.

Holding a large tree, he danced among the guests and descended to the stage.

Forest spirits who serve the queen. I called for applications for roles in this play as a workshop, and 18 Chinese people came together.

I explained the structure and flow of the play to everyone, and we rehearsed many times to create this stage production.

On stage, I swing branches around, as if I’m summoning forest spirits.

Everyone started circling around me, and then our entrance scene ended with us doing the mountain pose.

From here, the work will be constructed in front of the audience, in time with the music.

There will be four large works in the venue: one at the front and three above the stairs that serve as the audience seating.

Work will be carried out simultaneously here and there in the venue, creating a stage with so much movement that the audience will wonder where to look.

The rear part of the front is completed.

The three pieces above the stairs will be completed at the same time as the front.

The music changes and white vases of flowers are carried in divinely.

花器に私が花をいけると、それを合図に一斉に、妖精たちが花をいけ始めます。

I asked everyone to make it look like fluttering butterflies.

Everyone tried their best to become fairies.

The last dance with flowers!

At the end, we asked our guests to help out with the flower arrangement.

And finally, everyone recites a Chinese poem by Li Bai together.

Light blue balls resembling a river flow down from the ceiling all at once.

Greetings for the audience!

By the way, the music was live.

The finished front piece.

Artworks on the stairs

It was an unforgettable performance for me.

I’ve attached a lot of photos. Thank you to everyone who stayed with me until the end.
